The phone updates. My factory firmware is 3. I tried to update it to the current 4. I bought the CA cable. At first it seemed run smoothly, did backups for me, made sure my phone is charged enough, etc. I was told in the update window it's normal for phone to turn off, screen to become blank, and that I shouldn't mind any usb notifications popping. However it seems that after turning of my phone at the very beginning of the installation, the updater is unable to turn it back on - the screen is empty, the light is blinking, after it I get the message my phone is disconnected and the notification about "Device recovery": Nokia software updater has lost connection with your device, follow these steps to help reconnect the device.
Then I am also unable to turn the phone on manually, until the battery is removed and put back phone becomes hot enough by that time. Then it functions normally, but any attempt to reconnect it and continue updating ends in the same way. Still nothing changed. The phone is bought from a local operator, but at a full cost and there are no restrictions I'm using another operator's SIM card.
After reading forums it seems I'm lucky that first: my phone still works; second: the new firmware is quite troubling. Maybe it should be best to wait for the next version to show up, and maybe meanwhile someone who solved this problem will show up.
Some other issues. Battery life is really short, I can see it already, it's going to be a nuisance. I miss the SMS Draft folder too. I cannot say much for the voice command, as my contacts are lithuanian, and it's designed to recognize english; however I've seen much better voice recognition done by Nokia c. The back cover problem is not really a problem. I've read about it, so when buying, I simply asked to show me how to open it.
